Ada reportedly merging with Dialpad in $430M deal, down from $1.2B peak

November 3, 2026

Deal Value

$430M

Communications vendors are racing to own the autonomous AI agent layer instead of building conversational tech from scratch.

  • Ada Support has agreed to an all-share merger with Dialpad that values the Toronto AI customer-service firm at about $430 million (roughly C$600 million), two sources familiar with the matter told The Globe and Mail.
  • Ada, founded in 2016 by CEO Mike Murchison and David Hariri, builds AI agents that answer customer questions and also connect to clients' software to handle tasks like updating accounts or issuing refunds.
  • Dialpad sells communications and contact-center software and launched a platform for building autonomous voice and text agents in October 2025, a push the Ada deal is meant to deepen.
  • The new valuation is roughly a third of the $1.2 billion Ada reached in a 2021 pandemic-boom financing round led by Spark Capital, when it joined Canada's unicorn ranks.
  • Ada, which has about 200 employees and roughly $50 million in annual revenue, cut half its marketing team in July and laid off 25 more staff just before the deal emerged.
  • The deal shows how fast pandemic-era software valuations have reset and reflects consolidation in customer-service AI, with communications vendors moving to own the autonomous agent layer rather than build it alone.
