Palo Alto Networks reportedly in talks to buy Clutch Security for $500M
November 5, 2026
Deal Value
$500M
Securing the credentials autonomous AI agents use to access corporate systems is emerging as cybersecurity's next big battleground.
- Palo Alto Networks is reportedly in talks to acquire Israeli startup Clutch Security for about $500 million, according to The Information, which cited people familiar with the negotiations.
- Founded in late 2023 in Tel Aviv, Clutch builds software that maps and secures 'non-human identities' — the API keys, service accounts, tokens and passwords AI agents use to access corporate systems.
- Clutch has raised about $28.5 million total: an $8.5 million seed round in July 2024 led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, followed by a $20 million Series A in January 2025 led by SignalFire.
- If completed, the deal would be Palo Alto's fifth announced acquisition in 2026, following its reported $25 billion purchase of CyberArk in February.
- Days earlier, CrowdStrike agreed to buy Fiddler AI and Dreadnode for a reported combined $495 million, adding AI agent monitoring and security-testing capabilities.
- As enterprises deploy AI agents that act autonomously across internal systems, their machine credentials are becoming a new attack surface, prompting platform-scale cybersecurity vendors to buy specialized startups rather than build the capability themselves.
- Talks remain at an early stage with no signed agreement, and neither company has made an official statement, so the deal could still fall through.
