Væridion raises €30M to build its first electric Microliner prototype
November 5, 2026
Raised
$34M
The startup also landed a separate €94.5M EU grant, betting electric short-haul flights can undercut aging turboprop economics.
- Væridion closed a €30M ($34M) Series A2 round led by Dutch investors SHIFT Invest and Invest-NL to fund its first conforming Microliner prototype.
- The Munich-based startup, founded in 2021 by two former Airbus managers, is building a nine-seat all-electric aircraft with a 400km range for regional routes.
- In parallel, the EU selected Væridion's CAROLUS project for a €94.5M Innovation Fund grant, one of just 12 large-scale projects chosen from 358 applicants to build an assembly plant near Munich.
- Væridion says it holds conditional orders for more than 130 aircraft worth over €730M, and has raised roughly €60M in total funding to date.
- The company targets operating costs below €0.40 per seat-kilometer, aiming for fares comparable to a first-class rail ticket when the Microliner enters service in 2030.
- Electric short-haul aircraft could revive regional routes abandoned by costly turboprops, testing whether battery aviation can scale before larger jets do.
