Meta acquires AI coding startup Conductor, terms undisclosed
November 4, 2026
Developers now juggle fleets of coding agents at once, and Meta wants to own the interface that manages them.
- Meta acquired Conductor, an AI coding orchestration startup, in a deal announced November 4, 2026 with financial terms undisclosed.
- Conductor's platform lets engineers run multiple AI coding agents in parallel, each in an isolated workspace, before reviewing and merging their work.
- Founded in 2024 by CEO Charlie Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos, Conductor came through Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch and launched its core product in July 2025.
- Conductor had raised a $22 million Series A in March 2026 from Spark and Matrix before the acquisition.
- Conductor Cloud goes read-only November 13 and shuts down November 20; the local Mac app keeps updates until early 2027, when Holtz has teased a 'next interface.'
- Holtz and de Campos are joining Meta Superintelligence Labs, working under chief AI officer Alexandr Wang and product head Nat Friedman.
- The same day, OpenAI told Axios it plans to acquire developer-tools startup Pierre Computer, following its earlier acquisition of coding-agent startup Ona in June.
- AI labs are racing to own developer tooling because coding is both a major enterprise revenue path and a proving ground that makes their underlying models better at programming.
