Two Broadcom veterans are betting that fiber-optic chips linking AI racks together are as strategically vital as the GPUs themselves.

  • Celero Communications closed a $275 million Series C co-led by CapitalG, Atreides Management and Valor Equity Partners, valuing the two-year-old chipmaker at more than $3 billion.
  • The Irvine, California startup builds coherent digital signal processors that convert electrical data into light for fiber-optic links between AI data centers and racks.
  • Celero says it has taped out the industry's first 2nm coherent DSP silicon, an architecture that scales from 1.6T to 3.2T and beyond as AI data centers demand more bandwidth.
  • The round lifts Celero's total funding to $415 million, following a $100 million Series B led by CapitalG in November 2025.
  • Co-founders Nariman Yousefi and Oscar Agazzi are chip industry veterans from Broadcom, Inphi and Marvell, where they helped build earlier generations of coherent DSP technology.
  • Atreides managing partner and CIO Gavin Baker is joining Celero's board as part of the financing, while CapitalG general partner James Luo also serves as a director.
  • As AI clusters increasingly span multiple buildings, coherent DSPs are becoming critical infrastructure, giving hyperscalers a well-funded alternative to incumbents Broadcom and Marvell.
