Anthropic reportedly locks in $45B, six-year Nscale compute deal

The agreement adds a third infrastructure partner beyond Amazon and Google, arriving weeks before an expected blockbuster IPO filing.

• Anthropic agreed to spend roughly $45 billion over six years to lease about 460 megawatts of AI computing capacity from Nscale, Bloomberg reported and CNBC confirmed.
• Nscale is a two-year-old London AI infrastructure firm preparing a US IPO as soon as next month; Anthropic makes the Claude AI assistant and coding tools that are straining its current compute.
• The capacity will run on Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin chips, coming online in late 2027, as the first phase of a 1.35-gigawatt campus projected to cost $71 billion in total.
• Anthropic became the tenant after Microsoft signed a letter of intent for the same West Virginia site in March 2026 and then walked away over the summer.
• This is Anthropic's third roughly $45-50 billion-scale infrastructure commitment this year, following a $50 billion deal with Fluidstack and a $45 billion SpaceX agreement.
• Anthropic confidentially filed for an IPO in June and was valued at $965 billion in May, making secured compute capacity central to its pitch to public investors.
