CodeRabbit raises $143M Series C at $1.5B to police AI-written code

August 12, 2026

Raised

$143M

Series C

The round bets that as AI agents write more code than humans, someone independent has to check it before it ships.

  • CodeRabbit raised $143 million in a Series C round co-led by Atomico and Smash Capital, valuing the AI code review startup at $1.5 billion.
  • Founded in 2023 by CEO Harjot Gill and COO Gur Singh, the San Francisco company built an AI tool that automatically reviews code the moment it's generated, catching bugs, security flaws and style issues.
  • Alongside the raise, CodeRabbit launched Agentic Change Management, a governance layer with Triage, Change Stack and Security features meant to score, route and monitor code changes from both humans and AI agents.
  • CodeRabbit now runs more than 2 million code reviews a week for over 17,000 customers, including Nvidia, BMW, Adyen and JFrog, with revenue up more than 5x year-over-year.
  • The Series C lands less than a year after CodeRabbit's $60 million Series B, pushing total funding to roughly $231 million as vibe coding drives a surge in AI-generated code needing review.
  • CodeRabbit plans to expand its London office further into Europe and enter Japan and other Asian markets, while committing over $10 million to keep its tools free for open-source maintainers.
  • As AI agents increasingly write and ship code faster than humans can review it, investors are betting that an independent, model-agnostic validation layer becomes essential infrastructure rather than a nice-to-have tool.
