Mech-Mind Robotics raises $300M in HKEX debut with BYD-linked backer
September 1, 2026
Valuation
$1.6B
The company sells the eyes, brains and hands that plug into robots built by other manufacturers, not full robots itself.
- Mech-Mind Robotics (09615.HK) began trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on September 1, 2026, pricing shares at HK$101.70 and raising roughly HK$2.35 billion ($300M), with cornerstone investors led by Baillie Gifford including Golden Link, BYD's industrial investment arm.
- Rather than manufacture robots, Mech-Mind supplies standardized 'eye-brain-hand' components -- Mech-Eye 3D cameras, the Mech-GPT multimodal model and Mech-Hand dexterous grippers -- used by over 100 Fortune Global 500 firms including CATL, BYD, Toyota and Foxconn.
- The Hong Kong retail tranche was oversubscribed 3,835 times, triggering a clawback that expanded the public offering to 20% of shares, while nine cornerstone investors took 62% of the total offer.
- Revenue grew from RMB180.8 million in 2023 to RMB388.8 million in 2025, and gross margin rose from 39.1% to 64.6% over the same period as losses narrowed.
- The listing is the first IPO to emerge from Xiong'an New Area, a flagship planned city south of Beijing, and Mech-Mind is listed under HKEX's Chapter 18C regime for pre-commercial specialist-technology firms.
- The debut tests whether public investors will back the component layer of embodied AI -- the sensors, models and grippers other robot makers rely on -- rather than betting only on humanoid robot brands themselves.
