Flawless reportedly sells AI dubbing tech to Schuurman's startup
October 30, 2026
The UK business collapsed into insolvency months after a leadership shake-up, leaving its founders to rebuild through a separate U.S. entity.
- TBellScout, a startup owned by Dutch tech billionaire Steven Schuurman, has acquired Flawless's TrueSync dubbing technology and its DeepEditor post-production tool.
- Flawless built SAG-AFTRA-endorsed AI tools that let studios dub dialogue and alter actor performances without costly reshoots, with credits including the film Fall.
- The sale followed Flawless Holdings Limited, its UK trading entity, filing for administration this month—a process similar to U.S. Chapter 11 but one where an outside administrator, not company directors, controls the business.
- Insolvency specialist BTG took over operations and sold the IP to TBellScout after UK tech lender Sprk Capital, which held security over Flawless's assets, appointed it as administrator.
- Flawless had raised about $100 million from wealthy individual backers rather than venture capital firms to build its platform.
- Co-founders Scott Mann and Nick Lynes retain control of the separate U.S. business, Flawless AI Inc., and are reportedly exploring a new venture outside the current structure.
- The deal shows that even a well-capitalized, studio-trusted AI startup with marquee Hollywood credits can still fail financially, with its technology stripped out and sold piecemeal rather than the company surviving intact.
