Lynk, Omnispace Complete Merger, Launch D2D Satellite Venture Elveo Mobile

The combined firm plans a 320-satellite constellation by 2028, betting dedicated spectrum can beat SpaceX and AST SpaceMobile on capacity.

• Lynk Global and Omnispace completed their merger on August 14, 2026, rebranding as Elveo Mobile, a new Washington DC-area direct-to-device (D2D) satellite operator.
• Elveo delivers satellite connectivity for voice, data and IoT links to existing phones and machines, positioning itself as a roaming partner for mobile carriers rather than a competitor for their customers.
• The company starts with nine satellites in orbit — six LEO craft from Lynk plus two LEO and one MEO satellite from Omnispace — from two firms that had no commercial service running before merging.
• Elveo plans to grow to a 320-satellite LEO constellation, with launches starting in Q4 2027 and commercial service beginning in early 2028.
• The merger pairs Omnispace's 60MHz of licensed S-band spectrum with Lynk's platform, which had relied on cellular frequencies borrowed from carrier partners, adding dedicated bandwidth for heavier data use.
• Omnispace had originally planned a fleet of more than 600 satellites but stalled after reporting spectrum interference from SpaceX's direct-to-cell service in the US.
• Elveo says it already has 56 contracts with mobile carriers and distribution partners spanning more than 60 countries, and is testing service with ten operators.
• Combining dedicated satellite spectrum with an established D2D platform lets Elveo compete on capacity and reliability against SpaceX's Direct to Cell and AST SpaceMobile, both of which lean on shared terrestrial frequencies.
