$100M
Splitting light into hundreds of bands turns each pixel into a chemical signature, flagging crop disease or methane leaks invisible to normal cameras.
- Pixxel closed a $100 million Series C co-led by Temasek and Seraphim Space Investment Trust, the largest single funding round ever raised by an Indian space-tech company, bringing its total funding to $195 million.
- Founded in 2019 by BITS Pilani alumni Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal, the Bengaluru startup operates six Firefly satellites that capture hyperspectral imagery to detect crop stress, water pollution and mineral deposits.
- The capital will fund the Honeybee satellite constellation with a first launch expected in 2027, high-resolution optical and future radar satellites, and the Aurora Earth-intelligence software platform.
- Sources told Indian media the round values Pixxel between $400 million and $500 million, though the company has not officially disclosed a valuation.
- Pixxel already holds contracts with NASA and the US National Reconnaissance Office and was selected to lead India's first public-private Earth observation constellation of 12 satellites under IN-SPACe.
- The raise surpasses rival Skyroot Aerospace's $60 million round earlier in 2026, underscoring how quickly funding scale is rising across India's young space-tech sector.
- The mega-round signals institutional investors like Temasek are betting that Earth-observation data, not just satellite hardware, is the more durable moneymaker in the space economy.
