Xiaomi confirms 2027 European EV launch with 8 German dealer groups

September 3, 2026

The move brings a car that has already beaten Porsche on the Nürburgring straight into German luxury automakers' home market.

  • Xiaomi Auto confirmed at IFA 2026 in Berlin that it will begin selling electric vehicles in Europe, including Germany, starting in 2027, signing memoranda of understanding with eight major German dealer groups as its first retail partners on the continent.
  • Xiaomi Auto has delivered more than 700,000 vehicles in China since its first EV reached customers in March 2024, and says it reached profitability within six quarters of starting deliveries.
  • The European cars will plug into Xiaomi's 'Human x Car x Home' ecosystem, powered by HyperOS and AI, letting drivers open curtains, control air conditioning and manage other smart-home devices from behind the wheel.
  • Because Xiaomi did not take part in the EU's 2023 anti-subsidy probe into Chinese EVs, it is likely to face the bloc's highest countervailing duty of 35.3%, on top of the standard 10% import tariff.
  • Xiaomi's SU7 sedan crossed 500,000 units sold in 28.5 months, and the YU7 SUV pulled in more than 240,000 lock-in orders within 18 hours of its launch in China.
  • German luxury brands are already reeling in China, where vehicle imports fell 99% from their 2023 peak in July and Porsche's China sales dropped 26% last year, more than halving since 2021.
  • Xiaomi's European entry tests whether a smartphone maker's device ecosystem can translate into automotive loyalty, pitting connected-home lock-in against the engineering pedigree of legacy German carmakers on their own soil.
