Temporal reportedly in talks to raise $500M at $12B valuation

August 19, 2026

Raised

$500M

A once-obscure infrastructure problem now commands venture pricing usually reserved for frontier model labs.

  • Temporal Technologies is in talks to raise roughly $500 million at a pre-money valuation of at least $12 billion, Bloomberg reported, with terms not yet finalized.
  • Founded in 2019 by Samar Abbas and Maxim Fateev, Temporal sells an open-source durable-execution platform that lets multi-step software workflows resume from their last checkpoint instead of failing outright when a service or network breaks.
  • The proposed mark would more than double the $5 billion valuation Temporal set just six months earlier in its $300 million Series D, led by Andreessen Horowitz in February 2026.
  • Temporal's annual recurring revenue passed $100 million by February, with reported year-over-year revenue growth of about 380%.
  • OpenAI is described as Temporal's largest customer, using it to keep products like Codex running reliably, alongside Netflix, Datadog, Salesforce and Replit.
  • As AI agents run longer, multi-step tasks where any single failure can silently corrupt or repeat an action, the reliability layer beneath them has become one of the most expensive new categories in venture capital.
