Airbound raises $37M Series A led by Greenoaks to rival trucking
August 25, 2026
Raised
$37M
Its tail-sitter drones weigh less than their cargo, flipping the physics that have kept aerial delivery too costly to scale.
- Airbound closed a $37 million Series A led by Greenoaks, with DoorDash, Lachy Groom, Lightspeed and Humba Ventures joining, less than a year after an $8.65M seed.
- The Bengaluru-based startup, founded in 2023 by CEO Naman Pushp, builds autonomous blended-wing-body 'tail-sitter' drones designed to fly and land vertically like small rockets.
- Its current TRT drone weighs 3.3 pounds and carries 2.2 pounds of payload; a next-gen version in development aims to weigh 6.6 pounds while carrying up to 11 pounds.
- Airbound has flown more than 13,000 autonomous missions across Bengaluru and Guntur, including over 1,000 diagnostic-sample runs for hospital network Narayana Health with zero mission failures.
- Alongside the round, Airbound signed a commercial deployment agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to build an aerial delivery network across three cities, targeting 10,000 flights a day.
- The raise ranks in the 98th percentile of Series A deals for Indian transportation startups, an unusually large hardware bet in a market long dominated by software rounds.
- If Airbound's low-mass airframe design can hold up at scale, it would undercut a core reason aerial logistics has stayed a niche, high-cost alternative to trucks worldwide.
