HyImpulse raises €50M+ Series A extension, tops €125M total
September 2, 2026
Raised
$54M
The German rocket startup is betting that simpler paraffin-fueled engines can win Europe's race for sovereign launch capacity.
- HyImpulse raised more than €50 million (~$54M) in a Series A extension co-led by JOIN Capital and Ace Capital Partners, pushing its total equity and grant funding past €125 million (~$135M).
- The Neuenstadt am Kocher-based company, spun out of Germany's DLR aerospace lab in 2018, builds suborbital and orbital rockets powered by its own hybrid propulsion technology.
- HyImpulse's engines combine non-explosive paraffin fuel with liquid oxygen, a design the company says needs fewer components than conventional liquid-fuel rocket systems.
- Despite not having flown a commercial mission yet, HyImpulse says it holds an order book worth roughly €350 million (~$378M) for its suborbital and orbital services.
- The round follows an earlier Series A tranche of €15 million plus €30 million in additional financing disclosed in October 2025.
- HyImpulse plans a second SR75 suborbital launch from SaxaVord Spaceport in Scotland by the end of 2026, following its 2024 debut flight campaign in South Australia, while advancing its orbital SL1 vehicle.
- The raise reflects Europe's scramble to build independent launch capacity as commercial, institutional and defense demand for sovereign access to space accelerates.
