Adobe Acquires Indian AI Martech Startup Rilo, Shutting It Down
September 2, 2026
Investors banked an exit in barely a year, showing how fast niche agentic-AI tools can get scooped up before rivals notice.
- Adobe acquired Bengaluru-based Rilo in a deal involving licensing and a team acquisition, folding its six-person team and IP into Adobe while shutting the standalone product down; deal terms were undisclosed.
- Rilo let go-to-market teams build AI-driven workflows in plain English for competitor intelligence, content repurposing, sales-call analysis and social outreach, similar to Claude Cowork or ChatGPT Work.
- Founded in 2025 by IIT Bombay batchmates Dhruv Jaglan and Georgi Boby, Rilo had raised just $1 million in seed funding from Peak XV, DeVC and Day Zero Ventures at a $10 million valuation.
- The startup scaled to more than 10,000 users within roughly a year of launch before its backers secured an exit through the Adobe deal.
- This is Adobe's second Indian acquisition after buying video-AI startup Rephrase.ai in 2023, and it follows Adobe's $1.9 billion purchase of SEO firm Semrush as it builds out agentic marketing tools.
- The deal shows large software vendors increasingly acqui-hiring small, fast-moving AI teams rather than building agentic workflow tools in-house, as rivals like Salesforce, HubSpot and Anthropic push similar capabilities.
