Agentrys raises $24.5M seed to automate chip design with AI agents

Its agents already carried a 32-bit CPU from spec to sign-off-ready layout without a single human engineer in the loop.

• Agentrys raised $24.5 million total: an oversubscribed $19.1 million seed round led by Etna Labs, following a $5.4 million pre-seed led by MediaTek, its first strategic backer.
• Founded by Mark Ren, who led NVIDIA's ChipNeMo project (the first industrial LLM for chip design), Agentrys builds 'Agentic Design Automation' software so engineering teams can deploy AI agents that automate and continuously improve chip design workflows.
• The platform has autonomously taken a 32-bit CPU from specification to a sign-off-clean GDS layout file with no human engineer involved, and exceeds 90% accuracy on NVIDIA's public CVDP verification benchmark.
• Funds will go toward hiring, building agent-native engineering tools, and expanding engagements with fabless semiconductor companies, a leading global foundry, and chip startups.
• Chip design still relies on scarce specialized engineers and thousands of manual hours per chip, a bottleneck Agentrys is targeting within a semiconductor industry worth more than $800 billion.
• As AI chip demand pushes design complexity higher, tools that automate entire engineering workflows rather than single tasks could reshape how quickly and cheaply new silicon reaches production.
