LG and Nvidia to unveil bipedal humanoid robot in Q1 2027

The robot's actuators, sensors and batteries all come from LG affiliates, turning a conglomerate's supply chain into a full-stack robotics platform.

• LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang signed an MOU at Nvidia's Santa Clara headquarters on August 13, 2026, formalizing a strategic partnership to build a bipedal humanoid robot for public unveiling in the first quarter of 2027.
• LG is a Korean industrial conglomerate spanning electronics, batteries and components; the humanoid taps LG Electronics for actuators, LG Innotek for sensors and LG Energy Solution for batteries, while Nvidia supplies the AI compute and reasoning brain.
• The robot will run on Nvidia's Jetson Thor computing platform, be built using the Isaac GR00T humanoid foundation model, and use Nvidia Halos for Robotics, described as the industry's first full-stack robot safety system.
• Before the bipedal robot arrives, LG will deploy its wheel-based CLOi robots at its Tennessee washing machine plant this year to test parts transport and collect real factory data to train the humanoid's underlying model.
• The deal builds on a June 2026 meeting between Koo and Huang in Seoul and extends beyond robotics into AI data centers using Nvidia DSX and Vera Rubin, plus a next-generation AI-defined vehicle platform built on Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion.
• As AI competition shifts from data centers into physical machines, pairing a manufacturing conglomerate's hardware supply chain with Nvidia's compute and foundation models could set a reference design other robot makers race to match.
