The manufacturing-AI startup is already rewriting assembly instructions for Anduril's factories as design changes once took months to implement.
- Arda Industries raised a $160 million Series A at a $1.5 billion valuation, co-led by Altimeter Capital, Accel and Khosla Ventures, bringing its total funding to $232 million including a prior $72 million seed round.
- Arda is led by Bob McGrew, OpenAI's former chief research officer and a longtime Palantir product and engineering lead, who built the company's AI agents to turn CAD design files into factory assembly instructions.
- Arda's first customer is defense firm Anduril, where its models are deployed inside the ArsenalOS manufacturing software to help cut engineering time on retooling assembly lines.
- McGrew says reprogramming a single factory station for a new product design can take three to six months and cost nearly $1 million, the bottleneck Arda's software targets.
- Altimeter's Apoorv Agrawal, who led the round and previously worked with McGrew at Palantir, pegs the addressable manufacturing market at $16 trillion globally and $3 trillion in the US.
- Arda says the new capital will grow its engineering and research teams, expand deployments in defense, electronics and data-center supply chains, and fund robotics models to eventually automate assembly itself.
- The round shows investors treating adaptable factory software, not just hardware or autonomy code, as the next frontier in defense and industrial AI spending.
