CoStar closes $800M cash buyout of new-home data platform Zonda
August 21, 2026
Deal Value
$800M
The new-home construction market moves $400 billion a year yet has lacked the digital marketplace tools long common in rentals and resale.
- CoStar Group completed its $800 million all-cash acquisition of Zonda on Aug. 21, closing a deal first announced in May after clearing regulatory approvals.
- Zonda provides lot-level new-home construction data, homebuilder software, and consumer marketplaces NewHomeSource.com and Livabl, serving over 3,000 builders, developers, suppliers and lenders across North America.
- Zonda generated about $170 million in revenue in 2025 at a 23% adjusted EBITDA margin, a scaled and profitable subscription business now folded into CoStar's residential segment.
- CoStar's residential segment already posted $444 million in Q2 2026 revenue, up 33% year over year, giving Zonda's data and marketplace products an established distribution channel.
- CoStar frames the roughly $400 billion in annual U.S. new-home sales as an addressable market larger than the entire U.S. multifamily rental sector, and one still underserved by digital platforms.
- The deal extends CoStar's real estate data empire, which already spans Homes.com, Apartments.com, LoopNet and Matterport, into new-home construction, a segment where legacy players had limited digital footprint.
