Flipkart Minutes reportedly nears 1.2M daily orders, closing in on Instamart
August 22, 2026
Walmart's capital and India's densest logistics network are letting an e-commerce incumbent outbuild the startups that invented instant delivery.
- Flipkart Minutes is now processing 1.1 million to 1.2 million orders a day, nearly triple the roughly 390,000-400,000 it handled in November, closing in on Swiggy Instamart's approximately 1.4 million, according to people familiar with the matter cited by TechCrunch.
- Flipkart Minutes launched in August 2024 as Walmart-owned Flipkart's quick-commerce arm, delivering groceries and everyday goods within minutes to compete with Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart.
- The service's dark-store network has grown to about 1,020-1,050 micro-fulfillment centers, up from roughly 340 a year ago, with Flipkart adding around 100 new sites a month and targeting 1,500 by the end of 2026.
- India's quick-commerce sector as a whole crossed 9.5 million daily orders in August, with Blinkit leading at 3.4-3.6 million and Zepto at 2.4-2.6 million, per Datum Intelligence estimates.
- Amazon is also racing into instant delivery with Amazon Now, which reached about 600,000-700,000 daily orders, showing quick commerce has become a battleground for e-commerce giants, not just startups.
- Flipkart's rapid climb suggests deep-pocketed incumbents with existing logistics can compress years of category-building into months, reshaping the competitive balance in India's quick-commerce race.
