Meta launches Muse, an AI agent that can act across your apps
September 8, 2026
The debut arrives days after an $18 billion settlement over social harms, testing how much trust users still have in the company.
- Meta launched Muse on Tuesday, a personal AI agent that can autonomously send emails, book travel, fill out forms and make purchases across a user's connected apps.
- Muse runs on a dedicated Muse Secure VM and is powered by Meta's new Muse Spark model, reachable via a standalone app, the web at muse.ai, and WhatsApp chats.
- The agent checks out purchases through Link by Stripe for buyer protections, with Shopify's Shop Pay and 1Password integrations coming soon.
- Muse is free to start, with paid tiers costing $20 or $100 a month depending on usage, and it's rolling out only to U.S. users 18 and older for now.
- The launch lands less than two weeks after Meta agreed to an $18 billion multistate settlement over social media's harms to consumers.
- Handing an AI agent access to email, health data and payment methods asks users for a new level of trust Meta has never had to earn before.
