Arkenstone Defense emerges from stealth with a $35M seed round and a managed GovCon back-office platform that helps commercial tech startups meet compliance and workforce requirements to sell to the U.S. government.

Arkenstone Defense has launched out of stealth with $35 million in seed funding to provide commercial technology companies with a turnkey back office for U.S. government contracting. The Menlo Park-based startup offers a managed platform that bundles workforce operations, HR, payroll, insurance, personnel and facility security, labor and DCAA compliance, contracting support, and accreditation into a single GovCon-native operating system. Built around a Professional Employer Organization that legally employs a cleared workforce, the service is designed to help startups and dual-use companies become operationally ready to pursue and deliver federal contracts without first building complex internal government-specific systems.

The company targets commercial and defense technology firms that have viable products but lack the compliance, security, and cleared personnel infrastructure required to sell into the Pentagon and broader federal market. Its platform addresses requirements ranging from Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification to broader audit and accreditation needs, replacing the typical patchwork of vendors with one integrated service that scales from a firm's first federal opportunity through long-term programs. Arkenstone launches with more than two dozen defense technology companies already running on its platform, with some reports citing roughly three dozen early customers, and intends to use the seed capital to expand its team and product footprint. The offering is commercially available now to U.S.-focused technology companies, operating from hubs in Menlo Park, Albuquerque, and Burr Ridge, and is positioned as infrastructure that widens the commercial defense industrial base by lowering the operational barriers to entering government markets.
