AI search infrastructure startup Exa has raised $250M in a Series C round led by Andreessen Horowitz, valuing the company at $2.2B.

Exa, an AI-native search infrastructure company building search tools tailored for AI agents and applications, has raised $250 million in a Series C funding round at a $2.2 billion valuation. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from existing backers including Benchmark, Lightspeed, Nvidia’s NVentures, and Y Combinator. The new financing follows an $85 million Series B completed in September 2025 at a $700 million valuation, meaning Exa has more than tripled its valuation in roughly eight months.

The company plans to use the capital to train next-generation retrieval models and scale infrastructure capable of handling hundreds of thousands of searches per second for AI workloads rather than traditional human web browsing. Exa’s search platform is designed to organize and surface high-quality web data for AI agents, and it is already used by thousands of companies and hundreds of thousands of developers across products such as Cursor, Cognition, HubSpot, and Monday.com. The latest round underscores growing investor conviction that specialized search infrastructure will be a critical layer in the AI stack as more software shifts to agentic and model-driven interactions.
