Meta rolls out paid Meta AI chatbot plans under new Meta One tiers

May 30, 2026

Meta launches Meta One Plus and Meta One Premium AI chatbot subscriptions from $7.99 to $19.99 a month, starting in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia.

Meta has introduced its first paid subscriptions for the Meta AI chatbot, creating a new consumer revenue stream alongside its core advertising business. The company is offering two plans under a new Meta One branding: Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month. These subscriptions apply across the Meta AI app and web experience and are also integrated with Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, where Meta AI is embedded into search and messaging experiences. The rollout begins in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia, with Meta describing this as an initial test phase ahead of a broader international expansion.

Both Meta One Plus and Meta One Premium are designed for heavier AI users who frequently generate images and videos or rely on more compute-intensive reasoning features. Free access to Meta AI remains available, but usage caps will limit how much advanced generation and extended reasoning non-paying users can consume before needing a subscription. The higher-priced Meta One Premium tier offers additional computational resources and higher limits, targeting power users, creators and businesses that need to handle larger, more complex requests. Meta has deliberately positioned pricing to undercut or match rival offerings: the $19.99 Premium tier aligns with ChatGPT Plus and Google’s AI Pro, while the $7.99 Plus plan offers a cheaper entry point than many competing services.

The AI chatbot subscriptions launch as part of a broader Meta One program that also introduces app-specific paid plans such as Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus at $3.99 per month and WhatsApp Plus at $2.99 per month, along with business-focused Meta One Essential and Meta One Advanced plans at $14.99 and $49.99 per month, respectively. Consumers who subscribe to Meta AI tiers gain access not only to enhanced AI capabilities but also to these app-level perks, including profile customization, enhanced reactions, story analytics and, for higher-end business tiers, access to human customer support for pages. Meta positions this bundle structure as a way to increase the value of AI subscriptions while encouraging creators and small businesses to adopt paid tools.

For Meta, the launch of paid AI chatbot tiers marks a significant shift toward monetizing its estimated roughly 1 billion monthly Meta AI users. Analysts note that even low single-digit conversion rates at the $7.99 or $19.99 tiers could translate into several billion dollars in high-margin annual subscription revenue, helping offset rising capital expenditure on AI infrastructure, data centers and model development. The move also places Meta in more direct competition with OpenAI, Anthropic and Google for consumer AI spending, signaling that large-scale consumer social platforms see generative AI subscriptions as a strategic growth vector rather than just an engagement feature.
