DYNA Robotics unveils DYNA 2.1, a semi-humanoid that runs full work shifts
September 29, 2026
The robot's pitch is finishing entire jobs unsupervised, not just executing isolated tasks like most warehouse and service robots today.
- DYNA Robotics launched the DYNA 2.1 physical agent, a semi-humanoid robot that autonomously completes full commercial workflows, such as an entire laundry shift, without human intervention.
- DYNA Robotics builds general-purpose physical agents for real-world labor; CEO Lindon Gao says the goal is robots that finish a whole shift without a human babysitter, not just single tasks.
- The hardware pairs an upper torso with two arms (compatible with parallel-jaw grippers or dexterous hands) on four steerable wheels, avoiding the toppling risk of bipedal humanoids.
- A vision-language orchestrator plans the multi-step workflow while a whole-body controller fuses driving, reaching, bending and lifting into one continuous motion, underpinned by the DYNA 2 world action model trained on a million hours of human and robot data.
- In an August deployment report, DYNA said it had crossed the return-on-investment threshold with its prior Dyna-2 model at Din Tai Fung and expected its fleet to reach hundreds of robots by the first half of 2027.
- DYNA has previously reported Dyna-2 folding 95 restaurant napkins per hour at 93% quality, yielding about 1,590 acceptable napkins across an 18-hour shift.
- Most commercial robots still handle narrow, repetitive tasks; a machine that can own an entire shift end-to-end shifts the value proposition from automation of steps to replacement of labor hours.
