Anaconda acquires Kilo Code, AI coding agent used by 3M developers

The deal folds a runaway, multi-model coding agent into a security-first platform just as enterprises lose track of AI token spending.

• Anaconda has acquired Kilo Code, an open-source, model-agnostic AI coding agent used by more than 3 million developers; financial terms were not disclosed.
• Kilo Code embeds AI agents directly into developer tools like VS Code, JetBrains and the CLI, routing coding tasks across more than 500 AI models with no vendor lock-in.
• Kilo grew from zero to over 3 million developers in 16 months and now orchestrates nearly 10 trillion tokens of AI usage per month.
• The deal follows Anaconda's April acquisition of Outerbounds (maker of the open-source Metaflow framework), forming a three-tier stack: Kilo's agentic coding workspace, Anaconda Core for package security, and Outerbounds for orchestration.
• The push comes as an estimated 80% of enterprise AI projects fail to reach production, a gap Anaconda is targeting by governing AI workflows from a developer's first prompt through deployment.
