Uber Acquires Blacklane to Boost Elite Chauffeur Services

March 30, 2026

Uber has agreed to acquire Berlin-based Blacklane, a premium chauffeur service provider, to enhance its luxury travel offerings. The deal awaits regulatory approval and is expected to close by year-end.

Uber announced its agreement to purchase Blacklane, a Berlin startup founded in 2011 that specializes in on-demand black-car chauffeur services across major cities in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, South America, and North America. Blacklane has secured over $100 million in funding from investors including Sixt, Mercedes-Benz, and UAE conglomerate ALFAHIM. The acquisition supports Uber's recent introduction of Uber Elite, a premium service launched in Los Angeles and San Francisco with plans for New York City, featuring in-vehicle amenities, airport meet-and-greets, and 24/7 support.
