Bezos-led AI startup Prometheus lands $12B Series B at $41B valuation

Prometheus, an industrial AI startup co-founded and co-led by Jeff Bezos and former Google executive Vik Bajaj, has raised $12 billion in a Series B round that values the company at approximately $41 billion. The San Francisco-based company is building what it describes as an artificial general engineer, using AI to design and optimize complex physical products and compress long engineering and manufacturing cycles, from jet engines to medical devices. This new capital follows a prior $6.2 billion Series A raise, bringing Prometheus’ total funding to more than $18 billion in under a year, and making it one of the most highly valued private AI startups globally despite having no broadly released commercial product yet.

The $12 billion Series B is backed by a syndicate of large financial institutions and growth investors including JPMorgan or JPMorgan Chase, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, DST Global, and Arch Venture Partners, with Bezos also participating in the round after being the largest backer of the Series A. Prometheus is positioning its technology as core infrastructure for industrial and manufacturing sectors, aiming to dramatically speed up pre-production processes and prototyping and to reduce the time and cost required to move from design concepts to physical products. The company reportedly employs around 150 specialists across locations such as San Francisco, London, and Zurich, and is still operating largely in stealth while scaling its engineering efforts with the new funding. The size of the round and valuation underscore investor conviction that AI systems for physical engineering and industrial automation could become a foundational layer in the next wave of AI-driven infrastructure.
