Klaviyo acquires Elias Torres' AI startup Agency, names him CPO
August 5, 2026
The deal reunites Torres with a former junior engineer he once hired, who now runs the $5B company as co-CEO.
- Klaviyo agreed to acquire the team and technology of Agency, an AI-native customer success startup, with terms undisclosed; the deal is expected to close in Q3 2026.
- Agency, founded in 2023 by Elias Torres, builds AI agents for customer success; its roughly 25-person team and tech will fold into Klaviyo's Composer and Customer Agent products.
- Torres will become Klaviyo's chief product officer once the deal closes, leading its agent product line and reporting to co-CEO Andrew Bialecki.
- Torres hired Bialecki as one of his first engineers at Performable in 2010, before HubSpot acquired that company in 2011; Torres later angel-invested in Klaviyo's 2015 seed round.
- Agency had raised $32 million from Sequoia, Menlo Ventures and Felicis before the acquisition, per a report citing the deal's backers.
- Klaviyo announced the acquisition alongside quarterly results showing revenue up 26% to $370.6 million, plus the general availability of Composer and K:Social.
- Elevating Torres to chief product officer signals Klaviyo is betting its core strategy on AI agents rather than treating them as a bolt-on feature to its marketing platform.
