Waymo launches public robotaxi rides in Las Vegas, its 15th US market

It marks the first time Waymo enters a US city where a rival robotaxi service is already operating commercially.

• Waymo opened its robotaxi service to public riders in Las Vegas on September 14, 2026, becoming its 15th commercial market and Nevada its eighth state with paid rides.
• Waymo, Alphabet's self-driving unit, is deploying its newer Ojai minivans built on a Zeekr platform and powered by its 6th-generation autonomous driving system.
• The nearly 24-mile service zone covers the Strip from Boulder Junction to Sahara Avenue and stretches into Spring Valley and Winchester, with Waymo named official ride partner of Allegiant Stadium and The Venetian.
• Nevada regulators have authorized Waymo to run up to 1,000 robotaxis, versus 5,000 approved for Tesla and 1,000 for Uber's Motional/Zoox partnership -- up to 7,000 combined in Clark County.
• Amazon's Zoox already runs a paid public robotaxi service in Las Vegas, making this the first Waymo launch this year into a market with a live operating rival rather than open territory.
• Las Vegas becomes the real-world test of whether the robotaxi market can support multiple simultaneous operators or will consolidate toward one, since Waymo, Tesla and Uber's partners are all now approved there at once.
