Cloudflare buys VoidZero to bake Vite toolchain into one-click deploy stack

June 4, 2026

Cloudflare has acquired Vite creator VoidZero to integrate its JavaScript tooling into Cloudflare Workers and speed AI-era app deployment; deal terms were not disclosed.

Cloudflare has acquired VoidZero, the open source-first company behind the Vite JavaScript build tool and its surrounding tooling ecosystem, in a move to streamline how applications move from local development to global deployment on Cloudflare’s network. The transaction brings Vite, the Vitest test runner, the Rust-based Rolldown bundler, and the Oxc toolchain under Cloudflare’s umbrella, with the full VoidZero engineering team led by Vite and Vue.js creator Evan You joining Cloudflare’s Emerging Technology and Incubation organization. Cloudflare and VoidZero emphasized that these projects will continue to operate as open source, vendor-agnostic tools under MIT licenses, and that existing workflows on other cloud or edge platforms will remain supported.

Financial terms of the acquisition have not been publicly disclosed by either company, though Cloudflare separately committed $1 million to an independent Vite ecosystem fund to support external maintainers and contributors. With the deal, Cloudflare plans to tightly integrate VoidZero’s toolchain into its Workers developer platform and CLI, aiming to provide a single, project-centric pipeline from code on a laptop to production across its global edge network, including intent-based provisioning of services like its D1 database and R2 object storage. For VoidZero, the acquisition resolves the challenge of monetizing a widely adopted open source toolchain while preserving community governance, and positions its technology as a core part of Cloudflare’s strategy to accelerate both human- and AI-generated application deployment.
