Backbase buys Kasisto to deepen agentic AI push in banking
Dutch banking tech provider Backbase has acquired US-based agentic AI fintech Kasisto to embed its platform and team into Backbase’s AI-native Banking OS; financial terms were not disclosed.
Backbase, the Dutch banking technology firm behind the AI-native Banking OS, has completed the acquisition of Kasisto, a US-based agentic AI platform focused on banking and financial services. The deal brings Kasisto’s agentic AI platform, financial services intelligence and New York-based team into Backbase, with the combined capabilities now embedded in the Banking OS and available immediately to existing and new customers. Multiple reports confirm that the financial terms and valuation of the transaction have not been made public.
Kasisto is known for its conversational and agentic AI built specifically for regulated financial institutions, powering intelligent customer interactions and banking-grade autonomous agents. By folding Kasisto into its stack, Backbase aims to deliver a front-to-back agentic banking experience, moving customer interactions from intent through governed resolution across chat, messaging and voice channels while maintaining shared context and regulatory controls. The acquisition also strengthens Backbase’s presence in North America by combining its platform with Kasisto’s established US customer base and specialist team, positioning the enlarged group to compete more aggressively as banks accelerate adoption of agentic AI solutions.
