Lumen Technologies became the inaugural network provider for AWS Interconnect - last mile, a fully managed service enabling enterprises to connect branch offices, data centers, and remote locations to AWS via simple clicks in the AWS Console. This partnership leverages Lumen's 340,000-mile fiber network and Lumen Cloud Interconnect for automated Layer 3 private connectivity, handling BGP, VLAN setup, and MACsec encryption automatically. Announced generally available on April 15, 2026, the collaboration integrates Lumen's metro and last-mile infrastructure with AWS automation, reducing setup from weeks to minutes and supporting high-bandwidth AI workloads.
