Superhuman acquires YC-backed AI notetaker Fathom

The deal signals that meeting transcripts are becoming the core data layer powering autonomous AI agents at work.

• Superhuman announced it has acquired Fathom, a Y Combinator-backed AI meeting notetaker, with deal terms not disclosed.
• Fathom, founded in 2020 by Richard White, offers free AI note-taking for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and has drawn over 400,000 monthly active users with more than 1 million people recording meetings on it.
• It's Superhuman's third acquisition in roughly two years, following its purchases of Coda and Superhuman Mail as it assembles an AI-first suite spanning email, docs, calendar and agents.
• Fathom had raised over $30 million total, including a $4.7 million seed in 2022 and a $17 million Series A led by Telescope Partners in 2024, and was valued at about $94 million that year, per PitchBook.
• Superhuman plans to feed Fathom's meeting summaries and action items into Superhuman Go, its proactive AI assistant, so agents can act on discussions without manual prompting.
• The deal shows productivity platforms increasingly buying rather than building notetakers, treating meeting transcripts as essential fuel for autonomous AI agents rather than a standalone feature.
