Efficient Computer raises $97M Series B at $650M valuation for chips

$97M

Series B

Its dataflow chips already ship in volume, a milestone most funding-stage rivals still chase with only prototypes.

  • Efficient Computer closed a Series B of more than $97 million led by TQ Ventures at a $650 million valuation, bringing total funding to $173 million.
  • Spun out of Carnegie Mellon University, the Pittsburgh startup builds general-purpose processors using data-flow architectures rather than narrow AI accelerators.
  • Its Electron E1 processor is already in volume production, shipping to customers in physical AI and robotics, critical infrastructure, space and defense, and wearables.
  • The Fabric architecture pairs with a compiler called effcc that runs C, C++ and common AI frameworks without code rewrites, claiming 10-100x lower energy use than today's CPUs and GPUs.
  • This is Efficient's second major raise in 2026, coming just seven months after a $60 million Series A led by Triatomic Capital in February.
  • Proceeds will fund shipping the Electron E1 at volume while scaling the architecture toward datacenter-class chips targeting more than 10x better energy efficiency than current systems.
  • As AI power demand strains grid capacity, investors are backing general-purpose energy-efficient designs as a hedge against the narrow, model-specific AI accelerators dominating today's chip market.
