Sequoia, which previously passed on investing, now leads a round that more than tripled its valuation in eight months.
- Whop closed a $200 million Series D co-led by Sequoia Capital and Shopify Ventures, valuing the company at $5.1 billion.
- Whop gives entrepreneurs the infrastructure to launch and run online storefronts, including payments, invoicing and AI-driven automation, serving niches like trucking invoicing, tree-removal services and private jet booking.
- This is Whop's second raise of 2026, following a $200 million strategic investment from Tether in February at a $1.6 billion valuation.
- Annualized run-rate revenue has grown to more than $400 million, up from $60 million at the start of last year, as the platform processes over $7 billion in transactions across 185 countries.
- Sequoia Capital had previously declined to invest in Whop; partner Doug Leone joins Whop's board in his first deal since returning to an active investing role.
- The deal signals strong investor appetite for creator-commerce platforms outside the AI investing wave, as traditional entry-level job opportunities shrink and younger workers look to build their own income streams.
