CoinMarketCap acquires derivatives data platform CoinGlass
September 25, 2026
Derivatives drive most crypto trading volume, so pairing spot prices with leverage data closes a major blind spot for traders.
- CoinMarketCap acquired crypto derivatives data platform CoinGlass in a completed deal with undisclosed financial terms, announced September 25, 2026.
- Founded in 2019, CoinGlass tracks open interest, funding rates, liquidations and options across 28 exchanges and 2,500+ instruments, serving 5M+ monthly users and 10,000 API customers.
- CoinGlass will keep operating independently under its own brand, with its website, app, free tools, API and pricing unchanged, and its team staying in place.
- CoinMarketCap reports 115 million monthly users who will now see derivatives positioning data alongside the spot prices the site already tracks.
- CoinMarketCap itself has been owned by crypto exchange Binance since April 2020, which said at the time it would not influence the platform's rankings.
- Bundling derivatives positioning with spot prices signals that data platforms see leverage and liquidation risk as core to how retail traders now read the market, not a niche add-on.
