Temporal hires Oso's AI security team as Tiny buys its product
October 6, 2026
Deal Value
$2M
The deal split, team to one buyer and product to another, reveals how prized security talent has outpaced the value of the product itself.
- Temporal, the Bellevue-based workflow-infrastructure company, hired 11 of Oso's 40 employees to build AI agent authorization controls, while holding company Tiny separately bought Oso's software product and customer base.
- Founded in 2019, Oso built authorization software enterprises embed in their apps to control what each user can see and do, serving roughly 80 customers in security, fintech and developer tools.
- Tiny paid about $1.9M, cash plus a holdback, for Oso Cloud, which had $5.3M in annualized recurring revenue, lifting Tiny's pro forma ARR to roughly $75.4M.
- The moves follow Temporal's $550 million Series E, closed just weeks earlier, that valued the company at $12.55 billion.
- Oso's own research found 96% of enterprise permissions go unused, a gap Temporal says turns dangerous once AI agents, not cautious humans, hold that access.
- Temporal says the Oso team will accelerate agent-security features already in development, with no changes to its existing platform in the meantime.
- The split deal shows a new playbook for cash-rich AI infrastructure firms: acqui-hire scarce security talent directly while letting the underlying product business get sold off separately.
