The energy-AI firm is revisiting a shelved US listing just as Trump-era trade jitters start to ease for cleantech investors
- Hamburg-based 1KOMMA5° raised about €70M ($78M) in a new round, lifting its valuation to $1.35B, with Japanese cleantech fund Marunouchi Innovation Partners joining existing backers.
- The home-electrification company builds Heartbeat, an AI platform that links customers' solar panels, batteries and heat pumps and runs them as a virtual power plant.
- 1KOMMA5° plans to invest more than €100M ($112M) in Heartbeat AI in 2027 to automate energy trading, billing and metering for households.
- The company targets around $750M in revenue for fiscal 2026, operates in seven countries with 3,000 employees, and had aggregated over 600 MW of flexible energy capacity toward a 20 GW goal by 2030.
- CEO Philipp Schröder said the company is considering entering the US market in 2027 and reviving a potential US IPO, with 2027 financial performance deciding the timing.
- 1KOMMA5° shelved earlier Nasdaq IPO plans in April 2025 after President Trump's renewable-energy and trade policies rattled markets, and has held unicorn status since 2023.
- A European cleantech unicorn testing US capital markets again signals renewed investor appetite for home-energy AI despite lingering policy uncertainty under the Trump administration.
