SAP agrees to acquire AI work-intelligence startup TechWolf
October 6, 2026
The deal gives SAP a continuously updated map of employee skills and tasks to ground its Joule AI agents in real work data.
- SAP announced an agreement to acquire TechWolf, an AI work-intelligence platform, with the deal expected to close in Q4 2026 pending regulatory approval; financial terms were not disclosed.
- Founded in 2018 by UGent engineers Andreas De Neve, Jeroen Van Hautte and Mikaël Wornoo, Ghent-based TechWolf built a 'context graph for work' that maps job tasks, employee skills and external labor-market data from existing HR systems.
- TechWolf is set to remain an independent entity under CEO Andreas De Neve out of its Ghent headquarters, continuing to serve both SAP and non-SAP customers including HSBC, GSK, AMD and PayPal.
- TechWolf had been growing revenue around 150% a year and was recently valued near €500 million, with the U.S. market accounting for nearly three-quarters of its business.
- Once the deal closes, SAP and TechWolf plan to unify skills and work data within SAP SuccessFactors and develop new AI-powered workforce and skills-optimization products.
- As enterprise software vendors race to make AI agents useful for HR decisions, owning a live, structured model of 'who can do what' becomes a strategic data moat, not just a feature.
