ID Finance raises €545M debt and equity to scale Plazo in Spain
October 13, 2026
Raised
$608M
Most of the capital funds the loan book itself, not just the app, since lending growth requires balance-sheet firepower as much as product spend.
- Barcelona-based ID Finance closed €545M (~$608M) in combined debt and equity, led by Spice Expeditions, WashU, Kingsway Capital and i80 Group, to grow its Plazo consumer finance app.
- Founded in 2012 by ex-Deutsche Bank bankers Boris Batine and Alexander Dunaev, ID Finance runs the Plazo and MoneyMan consumer lending brands out of Barcelona.
- The deal splits into roughly €500M of structured debt from i80 Group secured against Plazo's loan receivables and €45M of equity, according to La Vanguardia.
- Plazo's revenue grew 300% year-over-year in 2025, crossed 400,000 users, and hit bottom-line profitability, while ID Finance's group revenue reached €243M.
- ID Finance calls this one of the largest rounds ever raised by a Spanish fintech, topping the €410M seQura raised in November 2024.
- ID Finance is pushing Turrón, a BNPL and debit product launched in July 2026, into more merchant checkouts while targeting another 300% growth for Plazo in 2026.
- Pairing asset-backed debt with equity lets a consumer lender fund both its receivables and its product roadmap simultaneously, a structure increasingly common among BNPL and credit fintechs scaling in Europe.
