Intel's chief executive is personally backing the Indian startup's push to build a vertically integrated EV platform from scratch.
- Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette raised $85 million led by Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, with Intel CEO and Walden International chairman Lip-Bu Tan joining as an investor and advisor.
- Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette builds high-performance electric motorcycles, currently selling the F77 and X-47 in India and 20 European countries.
- The funds follow a planned Rs 779-crore ('BIGGA') factory in Tamil Nadu that will lift annual capacity to up to 500,000 vehicles, with full-scale production targeted for mid-to-late 2027.
- Capital will also ready production of the upcoming Tesseract electric scooter, which has already logged more than 70,000 paid bookings, plus the Shockwave enduro motorcycle.
- This round follows $66 million raised in an ongoing Series E, bringing Ultraviolette's disclosed fundraising to $151 million since August 2025.
- Ultraviolette is targeting US market entry in 2027, alongside expansion into Latin America and Southeast Asia, its next growth markets beyond Europe.
- The round signals growing investor confidence that an Indian EV startup, with in-house battery architecture spanning 48V to 400V, can compete on hardware depth against established global two-wheeler makers.
