Shiprocket shares surge 48% on debut, valuing firm at $1.25B
August 19, 2026
Valuation
$1.3B
The debut erased a valuation haircut the company took just weeks earlier, when it priced shares below its 2024 private valuation.
- Shiprocket's shares closed 47.9% above their ₹97 issue price on their August 19, 2026 debut, opening at a 33-35% premium on the NSE and BSE after a ₹1,617.5 crore (~$194M) IPO.
- Shiprocket, a Gurugram-based e-commerce enablement platform, evolved from a shipping aggregator into a full-stack logistics, cross-border shipping, cargo, advertising and capital-solutions provider for D2C brands and MSMEs.
- The IPO comprised a ₹885.5 crore fresh issue and a ₹732 crore offer-for-sale; fresh proceeds will fund marketing, tech infrastructure, debt repayment and potential acquisitions.
- The listing-day rally pushed Shiprocket's market cap to about ₹10,441 crore (~$1.25B), reversing a valuation cut that had priced the IPO at ₹7,056 crore, below the ₹10,000 crore (~$1.2B) it fetched in a 2024 private funding round.
- The IPO was subscribed nearly 100 times, powered by a late surge in institutional demand, as Shiprocket's revenue grew at a 24% CAGR between FY24 and FY26 while narrowing its adjusted losses.
- Early backer Bertelsmann, Shiprocket's largest shareholder, held its full stake through the listing; its roughly ₹170 crore investment was worth about ₹1,946 crore at the close, an 11.5x paper return.
- Goldman Sachs' India equity fund bought a 0.55% stake worth ₹52.7 crore in the open market on debut day, adding institutional validation to the retail-driven rally.
- The rebound signals that Indian investors are willing to pay up for e-commerce infrastructure plays with improving unit economics, even after late-stage private markets forced a valuation reset.
