Amazon reportedly in talks to buy AI startup Decart for ~$7B
October 11, 2026
Deal Value
$7B
The price nearly doubles the valuation Decart fetched just five months earlier, and comes after Anthropic walked away from a cheaper offer.
- Amazon is in talks to acquire AI startup Decart for around $7 billion, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing people familiar with the matter.
- Decart, founded in 2023 by Israeli engineers Dean Leitersdorf, Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, builds Lucy, a Nvidia-backed model that edits live video in real time, and Oasis, which generates simulated environments for training robotics and autonomous-driving systems.
- A deal could close soon if the negotiations don't collapse or another buyer doesn't emerge, per the Journal's report.
- Anthropic conducted due diligence on Decart and explored buying it for about $6 billion in August, but decided against the acquisition in September, according to reports.
- Decart was valued at nearly $4 billion in May, when it raised $300 million in a round led by Radical Ventures with Nvidia joining as a new investor.
- A deal would hand Amazon software that helps AI workloads run across competing chips, raising the strategic question of whether owning that optimization layer strengthens Trainium or undercuts AWS's hardware-agnostic pitch to customers.
