Nvidia, TCV Join Higgsfield's Series B Extension at $5.4B Valuation

Chipmakers investing directly in the startups that burn their GPUs blurs the line between vendor and financial backer.
- Nvidia and TCV invested in Higgsfield as an extension of its August Series B, which had raised $400 million at a $5.4 billion valuation led by DST Global; the new amount and valuation weren't disclosed.
- Founded in 2023 by former Snap executive Alex Mashrabov and Kazakhstani engineer Yerzat Dulat, Higgsfield's San Francisco-based platform lets creators combine about 35 third-party AI video models with its own engine.
- Registered users climbed past 40 million, up roughly 10 million since the August raise, and the company says it's on pace to top $1 billion in annualized revenue.
- The fresh capital is earmarked for global compute infrastructure and hiring, announced during Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's visit to Kazakhstan, where the bulk of Higgsfield's engineers are based.
- Higgsfield's rivals are also pulling in massive capital: Kuaishou's Kling AI raised $2.8 billion at a $15 billion valuation this summer, and Runway AI raised $315 million at $5.3 billion with Nvidia also participating.
- Nvidia taking equity stakes in AI application startups shows chipmakers moving beyond selling GPUs to directly financing the compute-hungry software layer built on top of them.
