Cohere signs LoI to acquire AI cybersecurity startup AISLE

October 15, 2026

The deal fuses vulnerability-hunting AI directly into frontier model training rather than bolting security on as a separate product.

  • Cohere signed a letter of intent to acquire AISLE, a startup that uses AI to autonomously find and fix software vulnerabilities, with deal terms undisclosed.
  • AISLE, founded in 2025 by ex-Avast CEO Ondrej Vlcek with co-founders from Google DeepMind and Anthropic, builds AI systems that discover, validate, and help remediate unknown vulnerabilities in production software.
  • In its first year out of stealth, AISLE's AI found more than 500 previously unknown vulnerabilities across over 100 codebases, including all 12 CVEs in OpenSSL's January release and 18 of 24 in curl's latest.
  • AISLE's Prague headquarters will become Cohere's Prague office, and all three co-founders are taking senior roles: Vlcek as SVP of new unit Cohere Cyber, Jaya Baloo as global CISO, and Stanislav Fort as VP of AI Security.
  • The acquisition adds cybersecurity to the entity Cohere is building through its roughly $20 billion merger with Germany's Aleph Alpha, following Cohere's earlier acquisition of Reliant AI.
  • As AI agents write and deploy more production code, pairing frontier model development with automated vulnerability discovery signals that security is becoming a core model-training input, not an afterthought.
